2026 T-Level Students Joining Muse Scheme

Over two years ago, Muse announced their grassroots partnership with Oldham College to provide T-level students with firsthand experience with an award-winning national placemaker.

The first major success of the scheme was welcoming Jadon Dooley, now a Trainee Project Manager, to Muse after his T-level placement.

Now, a new cohort of T-level students have joined Muse and Jadon caught up with Riley, Katie, and Mabel to hear more about what they’ve been working on and what they hope to gain from their placements.

Jadon – “How did you find out about Muse, and what made you interested in applying for a placement here?”

Jadon – “What are you hoping to get out of your T-Level placement?”

Riley – “I heard about Muse through college when they came into my Design Surveying and Planning T-level lesson and introduced who they are, what they do, and why they do it. Initially I wasn’t interested in a placement, but then I did some more research online and realised that Muse is more than just a construction company, and that they build in communities for communities in a sustainable way which was really interesting.”

Katie – “I found Jadon’s journey really inspiring because when Muse came into Oldham College it was great to see an example of somebody getting opportunities after finishing at college, especially as he did the same course in college”

Riley – “I want to know more about project management, and I would love to learn what a day to day looks like for a project manager because it’s something I’m really keen to make my profession going forward.”

Katie – “I want to be exposed to as many opportunities to learn as much as possible, as it’ll really help to get more insight into everything that is possible in this industry and how I could fit into that.”

Jadon – “Can you tell us a bit about your first couple of weeks at Muse and what you’ve been involved in so far?”

Jadon – “What has stood out to you most since starting the placement?”

Mabel – “In my first three days with Muse I had already been on three site visits which have all been great to learn and see something new every time. I have also been working on a sustainability presentation which I will be presenting next week, so it’s been a busy start to my time here!”

Riley – “From the first day everyone has been so friendly and helpful. You can almost forget that you are in working environment with how everyone acts and works. In my first week I had many inductions and introductions with not only people inside Muse, but also other consultants and companies Muse works with.”

Riley – “The first thing that stood out to me was the environment, people at Muse have always been trying to help. They also want to engage with you, and they want you to develop and understand what Is going on, they try to get you as involved as you can be in everything, during conversations about projects they will ask you what you think about it.”

Katie – “I wasn’t expecting to be able to go straight out on site right away, but it’s been really helpful to see things from a different perspective and ask questions about the site while you are actually there seeing the details in person.”

Jadon – “How does it feel to be part of a project that’s focused on regenerating your local area?”

Jadon – “What are you most looking forward to learning or getting involved with during your placement?”

Katie – “It’s a privilege to work on a project that directly affects my community in Oldham, it’s reassuring to see such a positive vision for the future of the town, and I’m excited to share that vision with people so they can be more positive about Oldham.”

Riley – “Being part of a project focused on regenerating a town local to me feels rewarding and meaningful. To me regeneration is necessary in places like Oldham, and I can’t wait to see the community spaces grow and develop into something where people will get together.”

Riley – “I am mostly looking forward to all the knowledge and experience that I will gain. I am also excited to see how the different projects develop and grow and how they will change areas like Oldham.”

Mabel – “I am looking forward to understanding more about project management and getting involved in all aspects of projects that will help me to learn and grow as a professional.”

Jadon – “Has the placement started to change how you think about future careers in construction, development or regeneration?”

Jadon – “What would you say to other young people in Oldham who might be considering a T-Level or a placement like this?”

Riley – “The placement has started to show me the range of career opportunities available within construction, development, and regeneration as well as all the individual processes involved in delivering complex regeneration schemes.”

Katie – “I am definitely more determined to continue pursuing a career in development and regeneration and hopefully gain a degree apprenticeship which can support me in the future with first-hand experience.”

Mabel – “I would tell them to make the most out of this opportunity as it will be the start of their own career and to appreciate every moment. I would also say for them to ask as many question as possible and try to learn from the experience and keep a journal with them so they can note down what they learned every day, that way they can look back on it.”

Riley – “I would encourage other young people in Oldham to consider a T Level course as it offers industry placement with masses of opportunities. This will provide real life construction experiences and contacts in the industry.”
