Work begins at Prince’s Gate to deliver 331 New Homes

It’s an exciting moment for Oldham as works officially get underway at Prince’s Gate, marking the start of the next phase in the town’s ambitious regeneration journey.

Prince’s Gate sits on one of the main routes into Oldham town centre from the east, within the Eastern Edge and Oldham Mumps character area of the Development Framework.

Approved in July 2025, the scheme will be delivered in two phases. Phase 1 will bring forward 75 affordable homes, followed by Phase 2, which will deliver a further 256 high-quality build-to-rent homes.

With this milestone, progress is gathering pace in Oldham Town Centre’s regeneration, which is delivering long-term social and economic benefits for local people.

Across the town, regeneration activity is helping to create a more vibrant and inclusive place while opening up opportunities for businesses, communities, and future generations.

With shovels now in the ground, Prince’s Gate will act as a catalyst for wider growth, creating new jobs, supporting local supply chains, and setting a high standard for future development across Oldham.

Councillor Arooj Shah, Leader of Oldham Council, said:

“Oldham residents deserve good-quality homes and we know there is real demand for more housing in our Borough. Seeing construction begin at Prince’s Gate is an important milestone and part of our wider commitment to building the new homes our communities need, including more social and affordable homes.

“By bringing this site back into use in the town centre, we’re helping deliver the homes local people need while continuing to invest in Oldham’s future.”

Alex Vogel, Senior Development Manager at Muse, said:

“Muse is pleased to see construction beginning at Prince’s Gate, marking an important milestone in our partnership with Oldham Council. This project will transform a key town centre site and deliver 331 high-quality new homes, including affordable homes for local people.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with the Council as the project progresses and Prince’s Gate begins to take shape.”
